Flower Storm (Live A/V) with Diet Clinic

Dryad Works, Room 1 - Saturday, 01:00 - 02:00

Flower Storm is a new multi-disciplinary project from the minds of Sepehr and Kasra V. By recontextualizing classic Iranian sounds and folklore with the contemporaneity of each artist's aural palettes they create a sharp-edged musical sword. Born from the desire for club culture to coexist with the deep roots of their motherland and nationalities, Flower Storm is a simultaneous deep dive into the history of their ancestors as well as a nod to underground electronic soundscapes.

Through collaboration Sepehr and Kasra V created an entire library of sounds together mixing traditional instruments such as the Daf, Tonbak and Santoor with sampled vocals and dialogues from films in Farsi and various styles of electronic music.

The name Flower Storm was taken from an animation by Surrealist painter Ali Akbar Sadeghi from 1972, while conceptually and visually, the project is heavily rooted in Iranian mythology and specifically Shahnameh by Abolqasem Ferdowsi as the track titles were taken from the English transition of the book.

“The live A/V show from Flower Storm, the collaboration between Sepehr, Kasra V and Diet Clinic is where tradition meets modernity. Rooted in Iranian folklore yet fiercely contemporary, it blends traditional instruments, sampled dialogues, and cutting-edge electronic soundscapes into a dynamic journey.

Inspired by the Shahnameh and surrealist artistry, the performance bridges their ancestral past with the pulse of underground club culture. Set to evolve into a fully immersive audio-visual experience, with Flower Storm, when it rains, it pours.”
